On all platforms HTML-NOTEPAD is just two files: html-notepad[.exe] and sciter.dll[.dylib or .so] so the application is portable by its nature – you can copy these files to any folder on your machine (e.g. on flash drive) and run it from there.
Installation is not required, but for your convenience I've included installation packages.
Windows- Installation executable : html-notepad-setup.exe (2,180 KB)
- Portable version: html-notepad.zip (2,526 KB) – unpack the zip in some folder and run html-notepad.exe from there.
- Universal version, works on all Windows version starting from Windows XP (coming)
Installation package: html-notepad.dmg (4,826 KB)
Linux (requires GTK 3)Portable executable: html-notepad-dist.tar.gz (4,281 KB) – unpack the tarball in some folder and run html-notepad from there. You may need to adjust permissions of binaries.
SourcesHTML-NOTEPAD is a part of Sciter SDK that you can download either from Sciter's site or access them at GitHub.
Binary files
Macbook pro video. For the binary (executable program) download, you have 2 choices: zip format and executable installer format. The installer format should suit for everyone since it gives all thepossibilities (the choice of language, the options for components toinstall..). Whereas the zip format contains the minimum files toexecute Notepad++.
For the zip format installation, if it'sthe first time you install Notepad++, just unzip the zip file todesired directory, then execute notepad++.exe. However, if you upgradeNotepad++ from the previous version, you have to follow theinstructions:
- Get Run Dialog by clicking start->run (Notepad++ should be closed).
- Copy this text %APPDATA%Notepad++ into the text field of Run Dialog.
- Click ok. A folder named 'Notepad++' will appear.
- Delete 2 files config.xml and stylers.xml then unzip the zip file and launch Notepad++.
Source files
To build this package:
- For generating the executable file (notepad++.exe), you can use VC++ 7 or MinGW 3.0 / 2.X . A makefile is available, but not maintained anymore. I suggest you generate makefile via CMakeLists.txt come with this project by using cmake.
- For generating the dll files (SciLexer.dll) , you have to use VC++ 6 or MinGW 3.0 / 2.X
All the binaries will be built in the directory notepad++PowerEditorbin
